Italo Calvino

Procedo in silenzio.

"The walk assumes that at each step the world changes in some aspect and yet something changes in us."
Italo Calvino

I proceed in silence. Inside, my heart pounding and my breathing becomes labored. Sweat. The climb is long and rebellious. The backpack weighs, but it is necessary. It 'full of what I need: water, chocolates, a shirt and a spare blanket. A small house on my shoulders.
A pause, because walking also means knowing when to stop and listen. The mountain speaks, its words are made up of a chorus of trees blowing in the wind, the dripping ice which becomes water, the wind that moves fast the clouds, the muffled pounding of hooves on the stony, the echo of the whistle of marmots.
I raise my head and he's there on the highest rock. His perfect silhouette stands out against the blue sky. He sniffs the air, motionless ibex. He is sure of himself, master of his world. Now I'm happy ... because inside me there is his image that will soon become an artwork.
